It is thorough and detailed withillustrations and photos and instructions on how to fix anything on Your volkswagen beetle.This is called the Blue VW Bible, because it IS used by Beetle owners all over the world, to check or repair their beetle. I use my copy all the time.. Highly Recommended. I see these used on ebay or the Samba occassionaly, but they're always priced at almost what a NEW one costs here at Amazon, so I finally decided to pull the trigger on it.I didn't notice when I placed my order, and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived, to discover that it's now in HARDCOVER!! Thanx, Bently/Amazon!!However, I was a little dissappointed in the wiring diagrams (one of the main reasons I decided to buy -- I already have the 70-79 edition). There's only ONE diagram for the four years of Ghia covered by the manual, and it's available for free download elsewhere on the web. The diagram provided appears to be for the '67 model year. I know for a fact that the '66 is different as is my '69 -- My flasher relay is different and there's no mention whatsoever of the dual brake warning light circuit in this book.But, if you've got any kind of common sense at all, you should be able to get by. Still, I expected more completeness from something called a "service manual". Is it just me?Further, as a Ghia collector, I wish ALL of these Bentley manuals would show/discuss more systems specific to the Type 14.
If you own a air-cooled VW, this manual is the one to own! I wasted my money on Haynes, Chilton and the How to keep your VW running and they are a major waste of money!!! This is easy to understand and to apply.
This thing helped me change out the rear drum brakes on my Beck Porsche Speedster which has old VW rear brakes. I couldn't find anywhere else exactly how many foot pounds of torque that pesky axle nut required. Highly recommended for this kinda esoteric work!
I had an original book for my 1rst VW. It taught me everything, including the little tricks, methods,and applications necessary to be trained as a VW mechanic. It took me many years to find this book, my old one looked quite different and stayed with my old car where ever it is. I have another VW and I am glad I finally found this book. There is no nonsence, drama, or other stuff as in other books. Get this one everything works!
This is the manual Volkswagen uses and is superior to those from other publishers since it focuses on a narrow range of model years.
